Top 10 Reasons To Drink Water

Water is a basic human need. Our whole body depends on it. The percentage of water in our body averages 60%. It is used by all the organs of our body, so, anytime the level of water is low in our body, we don’t feel well.

For example, our brain is composed of an average of 75% water. If that level decreases, we are likely to have memory problems, fatigue, and many more.

Moreover, if water is not well or appropriately consumed, we may feel hungry all the time, or even sick. Sometimes, constant headaches and lightheaded feelings are caused by lack of or low fluids in our body. Not to mention that insomnia, lack of concentration, and constipation are also caused by its lack.

The more hydrated we are, the better we feel.

So, to be sure that our bad health condition is not caused by water, we need to be well hydrated.

Here are some reasons we should regularly drink water:

1. It gives energy

Anytime we have enough water in us, we feel strong. It boosts our metabolism. It increases our energy level and keeps us healthy and focus. This is the best remedy when we feel weak and tired because our body reacts positively to water. Only 1% to 3% water loss is very bad for our daily brain performance and causes exhaustion even when we are doing something that doesn’t require much strength.

2. It helps lose weight

While dieting, it is advised to drink a lot of water to increase satiety. You will be likely not to eat much when you feel satisfied. Drinking water before meals is recommended as well. 3. It regulates our body temperature

Water helps reducing the temperature of our body. It lubricates our organs and maintains our muscle tone. It also allows the body to release heat in case the environmental temperature is higher than the temperature of the body. Water is a powerful body temperature regulator.

When we drink more water, we do not suffer from constant headaches and fatigue. It Improves the state of our mind and helps us keep a good mood. It helps us think more clearly. Drinking water only can do the trick, not other fluids like soda etc. Substituting water with other fluids can be dangerous. Water cannot be substituted. It is therefore recommended to eat more fruits such as watermelon, oranges, pineapples etc. instead.

5. It improves skin health

Our skin is made up of cells that are also composed of water. So, without drinking water regularly, our organs won't function well. It hydrates your skin and rids it of toxins and when we drink more than 2 liters of water a day, we look and feel younger. It delays the appearance of wrinkles especially those under our eyes. Remember to favor more water than any other drinks, it has a natural power to cure and prevent us from getting sick and old early.

6. It eliminates constipation

Are you having a bowel movement problem? Water is your one stop solution. Drinking more water helps our digestive system to easily break down our food and allow feces to be passed without trouble. As soon as you don’t visit the washroom for over a period of two days, then there is a problem. Don’t panic. Start drinking more water and you will see a change.

7. It helps good blood circulation

By definition, nutrients are essential compounds found in food for our health and life. Water is therefore the element that helps achieve fair distribution of those in our entire body. Hence, allowing good blood circulation in us.

8. It helps us fight against illnesses

As earlier mentioned, drinking water helps to prevent constant headaches, chronic fatigue, constipation, hypertension and many more. When the organs in our body lack enough water, they will start reducing in performance. And once this occurs, it can be the beginning of other serious illnesses.

9. It produces saliva

One of the major elements that breaks down our food is saliva. Saliva is very important in the digestive process. It contains enzymes that are vital for digestion

10. It helps lubricate our joints

Bottom line

How much water should we drink daily?

Well, it varies from a person to another. People doing high physical activities may require more water that those with less physical activities. Also, people living in hot weather make need more water that those in cold weather.

According the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, we can get water from both food and drink and the daily intake should be:

  • For men: about 3.7 liters or 125 ounces (or 15.5 cups)
  • For women: about 2.7 liters or 91 ounces (or 11.5 cups)

To be able to achieve this, you can spread the intake throughout the day. What counts is that you are not far below the recommended amount. Even if you are not able to reach this amount, you still get water from the food you eat. Soups, vegetables, and some other beverages are also sources of water.
